Loving Heart (The Broken Heart Series Book 3) Page 16
“I’m okay.”
“Are you with the young lady that came in?”
“Yes.”
“Would you like me to pray with you?”
“Y…Yes.” I lowered my head in shame and began to bawl. My God. My heart never hurt me this bad. The nurse held both of my hands and started to pray. I listened and chimed in when I remembered the prayer. “Thy kingdom come,” I could feel God’s presence. I swear, I thought I did.
It was a long wait and even longer night in the emergency room. I fell asleep having nightmares about Nick and Dave. Nick my psycho brother and Dave my serial killer father. No one deserved this much pain. NO ONE.
Chapter 19 Jenesis
“Michael?” I whispered.
“Jenesis? What? What is it?” he jumped up from the bed grabbing me by the arm.
“Can you bring Samuel to me, he’s crying.” I smiled.
“Of course baby.” He said.
“Come here little boy.” He smiled and kissed Samuel’s little nose. He grabbed him and placed him in my arms. He gave him a soft kiss on his forehead.
“You’re such a good little boy. Time to eat.” Michael chuckled. “Your one lucky little boy.” He glanced over at me and smiled.
“You’re fresh.” I whispered.
“I’d like to be.” He winked at me.
“Good morning, you’ve guys been here long enough. It’s time to take your beautiful baby home. I’ve never seen such big, beautiful blue-grey eyes before.” The doctor said. “I’ll get the discharge papers ready. So long, Samuel.” She waved then exited the room. Michael and I just stared at one another, then looked at Samuel.
After three months, we were finally able to take Samuel home. He was born prematurely. Born at 3 pounds 2 ounces. His beautiful blue-grey eyes opened up and he smiled at me, pursing his lips, looking for my breast.
“Are you hungry? There, here you go, my sweet angel.” I gave him my breast and he placed his tiny lips on my nipple. It was so sore already but breast milk was the healthiest and the best for Samuel.
“Hey, how’s my boy?” Michael asked.
“He’s fine. Hungry. Did my dad call?” I asked as I wiped Samuel’s lips.
“Yeah, Kate is bringing over the baby. Joe is at the hospital working. I said I would pick up Kate.” Kate had her baby a month early. She said she was so huge the baby just needed to come out.
“Thanks.” I whispered as Samuel’s little eyes closed as he suckled on my breast. I could tell he was falling asleep.
“Annmarie is also coming with her husband. Their staying over until tomorrow, then they’ll meet us at the church.”
“Did you get the papers?” I asked.
“Yeah, everything is done.” he leaned over and kissed my forehead.
“Oh, what about Samuel’s outfit?” I giggled.
“Jesus! I forgot. I’ll see you in a little while.” He kissed the top of my head and headed out the door. I placed Samuel in the bassinet and turned on the monitor. A few minutes later my cell phone rang. I looked at it cautiously. I was nervous being alone in the house, but I knew I was safe. We had the state of the art technology to keep the most brilliant criminals out of our house.
“Hello?”
“Jenesis, hi, it’s me Annmarie.”
“Oh hey, the spare room is waiting for you.”
“We’re in the driveway. I just didn’t want to ring the doorbell and wake Sammy up.”
“Oh, I’ll be right down.” I hung up the phone then propped a pillow and blanket behind Samuel. I went downstairs and opened the door. Annmarie and her husband, Richard were unpacking the car. They looked like they were staying a year. I loved living in Pennsylvania, the fresh air, the peace and calmness that surrounded us was exactly what we needed.
“Jesus! You live in the sticks! This is out in the boonies!” she shouted. I gave her a great big hug and he gave me a smile. The luggage was weighing him down. His knuckles were turning white as he gripped and drag them up the driveway.
“The sticks?” I laughed. “I’ve missed you.” I said as I hugged her again tightly.
“I’ve missed you, too.” she held me tightly. We walked upstairs to Samuel’s room as Richard placed the luggage in the spare room downstairs.
“Oh my God…he’s absolutely beautiful. How was the pregnancy?”
“It was difficult, but Kate and Joe flew in. They saved our lives. He was so tiny when he was born. A little over 3 pounds. But look at him now.” I stared at Samuel lovingly.
“Oh Jenesis, I’m so happy for you and Michael. I knew you and Michael were made for each other. Did you do a paternity test?”
“I didn’t have to; he has Michael’s eyes. I know he’s his.”
“You should still have one done.”
“Annmarie, please don’t spoil the visit.” She nodded her head.
Everyone arrived at the house and the feeling of belonging, being loved and giving love back was truly overwhelming. We ate, talked, laughed and passed Samuel around like he was a football. He laughed and smiled and his beautiful eyes lit up the room. He had huge slanted blue-grey eyes, straight black hair with one curl that fell on the top of his forehead. His chubby cheeks were pink and his chubby thighs made him look like a butterball turkey. He was Michael’s twin; his trademark was his beautiful heart-shaped lips. I loved him so much. I couldn’t believe he was in my arms.
“Hey, we should all hit the sack. We have a big day tomorrow.” Michael said.
“I want to hold Samuel forever.” Joe said smiling.
“He has to get some sleep, Joe. But you could hold him again all day long tomorrow.” Michael said.
“Come and put your daughter to sleep.” Kate said laughing.
“I’ll put them both to sleep. Come on Jenesis, come help me.”
“I’ll be right there” Everyone scattered about and went into their rooms preparing for the big day ahead. I started to clean up when Kate walked over to me.” She handed me a white envelope.
“Here,” she said.
“What’s this?”
“Your unconditional love,” She grabbed my hand tightly.
I grabbed the envelope and walked out onto the patio. My heart began to race as I tore open the envelope. I gasped for air and let out a yelp as I read the letter. I held on to the paper tightly, keeled over and cried and cried. I cried for at least five minutes straight. I took a deep breath, wiped my face with a paper towel and grabbed the paper and envelope and shoved it in my back pocket.
“Jenesis, come on, they’re both crying now! I need your help!” Joe shouted desperately.
“I’m coming!” I yelled.
I ran upstairs and helped Joe put the babies to sleep. I was exhausted and I needed to nap. I fell asleep in the rocking chair and Joe fell slept on the floor.
We both woke up to the cries of the babies. Samuel was wailing and Katie was whimpering. Kate and Michael had them in their arms already. I was relieved. I had to jump in the shower and get ready.
“Jenesis, come on! What’s taking you so long in there?” Annmarie shouted.
“I’m coming. Annmarie. I have to ask you something. Please, I need to know.” I barked.
“What is it? What happened?” she was nervous.
“I know Michael was seeing you as his psychiatrist. I know it’s confidential, but I need to know.”
“Why are you doing this, Jen?” she whispered.
“Please…did Michael kill anyone? Did he know about Vivian? Did he? Did he really want to kill me?” I pleaded.
“I’m not supposed to tell. It’s confidential.”
“If you tell me the truth. I will leave him. I can’t raise Samuel with a murderer. I need to know. It will always be haunting me. Please…Please Annmarie.”
“Okay, but never ask me again. No, he didn’t kill anyone. No, he didn’t know about Vivian. No, he never wanted to kill you. Michael confessed only one thing. That he loved you more than he loved himself and that if he didn’t get
you back, he would have no reason to live.” Her tears skimmed down her cheeks. She seemed hurt.
“Thank you. I feel the same way. I always have.”
The doors opened and the traditional wedding song was playing. I grabbed on to Joe as he held on to me tightly.
“Are you ready princess?” He whispered.
“Yes, I’m ready.” I smiled and placed my head on his shoulder. Then I stood up straight and walked slowly to the music taking one step at a time. Michael stood at the altar with Samuel in his arms. Samuel smiled and giggled as he listened to the music. I was so in love; In love with my husband to be and in love with my son. The divorce papers did go through. Michael and I decided to get married…again. Kate and Annmarie stood together, smiling from ear to ear. Annmarie whispered,
“You look beautiful.” and I mouthed,
“Thank you.”
I finally reached Michael at the altar. The priest asked us if we wanted to say our own vows and then Kate handed me the paper that I wrote mine on. I swallowed hard before proceeding. I was choking on the ball that developed in an instant and the tears just kept flowing.
“This is a poem I wrote for you.
You’ll never know how much I love you,
By the simple smile on my face.
You’ll never know how much I love you,
By the touch of my warm embrace.
You’ll never know how much I love you,
As I stand here with you today, because today is
A new beginning as everything in my past has been
Erased.
Here’s to my future with you, the only man
I’ve ever loved,
and with this ring I promise you,
Absolute faithfulness and Unconditional love.”
“I love you Michael…always.” The tears flooded my eyes continuously, but I had to hold them in. I needed to. I didn’t want to ruin my mascara. I grabbed Samuel from his arms. He pulled out a piece of paper from his tuxedo pocket. He cleared his throat and wiped his forehead with his handkerchief.
“From the first day I met you,
When my eyes met yours,
my heart sunk to my stomach and I knew you were the cause.
I completely fell in love with you,
And I knew I wanted more.
When we started Dating, I needed to hear your voice every day,
I craved your touch, your lips, your body in every amazing way.
But then I realized, you were so much
More to me than that, and I noticed your caring personality,
Your heart and your brains.” Everyone chuckled. “I know it didn’t rhyme, sorry.” He whispered. I smiled.
“I knew I didn’t deserve you, But I desperately wanted to try,
because my life was filled with fear, corruption, deception and lies.
I couldn’t let you go though, no matter how hard I tried.
I fought the demons that tried to keep us apart with every single lie.
And Here I am today in the same spot we once stood,
Looking at you in a completely different way, the only way I should.
And so my life is different, you have changed it for the best,
And I realized that love can conquer all, even things that we detest.
I’m happy that you never gave up on us, and I wanted to tell you
This,
My heart will be forever grateful,
from the moment I kissed your lips.
I love you Jenesis…forever.”
Michael leaned in and kissed my nose then kissed Samuel on his forehead. I was blown away by his honesty and he was right. He was a mess and so was I. We kissed and made it official and walked hand in hand out of the church. We stared at each other and felt the summer breeze hit our cheeks and kissed one another tenderly.
“I love you.” he whispered.
“I love you, more.” I handed him the white envelope that Kate gave me the night before. He looked at me, and then looked at the envelope. I nodded my head.
He opened the envelope and the paper read,
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hunter,
Your paternity results are in. Michael Hunter, you are 99.99% the father of Samuel Michael Hunter, according to the paternity test we did while you were asleep! We did this paternity test for you Michael, while you slept we swabbed you up! Now, NO DOUBTS…Just love! Lots of love for Jenesis and Samuel Forever…
Love Always,
Kate and Joe
Michael continued to stare at the paper, his hands began to tremble softly.
“Michael?” I asked nervously. “Michael?”
“I’m okay…I’m okay.” He placed the paper in his back pocket, grabbed my hand and we walked into the limo. Everyone sat and stared at us.
“Kate…Joe…Thank you.” he said as he wiped his tears. Kate and Joe nodded their heads and handed Samuel to Michael. Samuel grabbed Michael’s tie and nibbled on it gently. Michael kissed his forehead and held him gently. “I love you.”, I heard him whisper to Samuel.
“Let’s go home. Our reception awaits.” I shouted. They all cheered and passed the glasses of champagne to one another. Michael grabbed my hand and I whispered, “ninety-nine percent, not bad daddy.” he smiled and stared at Samuel the whole ride to the house. He didn’t blink, he just stared at him with love, pure love in his eyes. The kind of love you didn’t even knew existed until you have a child.
We arrived at the house where our friends waited for us. We walked through the door to bottles of champagne popping and our friends cheering. Everyone from Michael’s law firm was there, Kate and Joe’s friends and family, and Annmarie’s staff and some of Richard’s friends.
The DJ in the corner of the living stopped playing the music and announced,
“Will the happy couple please go to the middle of the living room for the first dance as husband and wife.” Everyone clapped. “This song has been dedicated to Jenesis, from your husband Michael.” We walked towards the middle of the living floor. Michael handed Samuel to Joe and the song began to play. It was Ed Sheeran’s, Thinking Out Loud. It was the perfect song. Some other couples joined us and then we all began to sing out loud!
Michael and I held hands as we stood in front of each other singing the song to one another. We all started laughing, even Samuel whose beautiful eyes glimmered from across the room.
Michael and I walked off the make-shift dance floor and started to serve dinner to our guests.
“Aren’t we supposed to be doing that?” Joe laughed.
“We’re going to put the babies to sleep.” I said laughing handing him a big serving spoon. “You do the honors.” I said as I grabbed Samuel and Michael grabbed Katie.
“Great, see you later. Katie, daddy loves you.” he kissed her forehead gently. “Goodnight, Sammy, Grandpa loves you. How do you like that, daddy and grandpa, all in one breath, Jesus!” Joe laughed loudly, then grabbed Kate by the waist. “I’m ready for baby number two.” he said with a sinister smirk.
“You’ve had too much to drink, but I wouldn’t mind trying.” she smiled as he grabbed her ass.
“Let’s get out of here before we see something we might be interested in doing.” Michael chuckled and grabbed me by the hand and I slapped his arm playfully.
“Another baby?” I asked.
“Yes, please.” Michael smiled.
“Are you sure?” I asked as I kissed Samuel on his head.
“Yeah, I’m sure. Samuel needs someone to play with.” he kissed Katie on her forehead.
“He has Katie.” I smiled.
“I love you, Jenesis. I want a little girl, who will look just like her mother.” he stopped in the hallway and stared at me. He stroked my cheek gently with his fingers and I melted. I looked into his eyes and reached up to kiss his lips.
“Let’s put the kids down.” I whispered as Samuel and Katie were already asleep in our arms.
We placed Samuel in his crib and placed Katie in the bassinet in his
room and placed both monitors on the night table. We walked to our bedroom quietly.
“I’m going to change out of this dress.”
“Yeah, I’m going to change too. I think a pair of pajamas will do.” He grabbed his sweats and a t-shirt.
“Well, then, I’m going to wear the same.” I grabbed my sweats and a pink t-shirt.
“You didn’t answer my question.” he said seriously.
“You don’t even have to ask that question. Of course I want another baby.” I grabbed him by his t-shirt.
“Don’t start anything you can’t finish.” he whispered in my ear sending a message to my core. I wanted him.
“Promise me something.” I looked directly in his eyes.
“Anything.” He whispered against my lips.
“Promise me you’ll take me to heaven tonight, Michael.” he smiled and slid his arms around my waist and pressed up against me.
“Have I ever let you down?” he asked as he kissed my lips.
“Just back down to Earth.” I kissed him back.
“That’s what I wanted to hear, baby.” He held my chin and licked my lips while sliding his hands over my ass. The door flew open and Joe came running in.
“What happened?” Michael and I shouted in sync.
“The…father…daughter…dance…” he said out of breath.
“Let’s do it.” I turned to Michael and whispered. “You’re my heaven on Earth Michael; My heaven on Earth. I love you.” I whispered. He smiled and kissed me tenderly.
“You’re my whole life…and Samuel. You complete me. There’s nothing left to say.” He brushed his lips against my neck and I thanked God for the day that I met him. Joe stood staring at us, tapping his foot. I grabbed Joe’s hand and we walked downstairs.
My heart fluttered with love like the day I first saw him when he stepped onto the elevator. My life was complete now. Michael, Samuel and Joe. The way it was meant to be; and no monsters underneath my bed could ever take them away from me…ever. They were my,
Heaven
on
Earth
and I…was complete.
